Embark on a holiday with a difference at South America's last frontier. On this adventurous safari you will navigate through Guyana's unspoilt and wild rainforests, witness the impressive Kaieteur Falls and explore the wildlife-rich savannah, all alongside a chance to visit colourful and culture-rich Georgetown. Guyana is the continent's best-kept secret. This lesser-known country is ideal for those looking for something a little different, you will find no better place for an authentic and raw adventure than here. Guyana offers both cultural and natural wonders to discover, being dense in tropical rainforest and extensive rivers that have been left largely undiscovered. Consequently, it is a remaining haven for some of the rarest animals in South America; expect plentiful tapirs, giant anaconda, metres-long caiman, a plethora of bird species, large troops of river otters, giant anteaters and with luck — jaguars.
On this trip feel like an early explorer as you traverse into the depths of the rainforest and work the winding rivers of the wilderness, searching for wildlife at every turn. Also on the agenda is the spectacular Kaieteur Falls with its micro-environment and the beautiful Georgetown botanical gardens, home to a wide variety of bird species, all alongside the contrasting yet equally stunning Savannah and an opportunity to climb the Sumara Mountain for incredible views. Enjoy dawn breaking across the Iwokrama rainforest as you look for wildlife and birds and night walks, where you might see the white-winged potoo or the occasional jaguar. Accompany the indigenous crew at Caiman House in their search and capture the black caiman on the river. Guests will observe the capture from a separate boat and will be offered the opportunity to assist in collect data. Caiman will be weighed, measured, sexed and tagged before being released back into the river. Throughout your journey you'll also be staying in some of the country's best-situated and most environmentally-conscious lodges.
