Svalbard Snowmobile Safari
An adventurous snowmobiling expedition in Svalbard during which you'll explore the High Arctic and visit the boutique hotel of Isfjord Radio. This safari explores the unique wilderness of Svalbard, starting in Longyearbyen, the capital of the Svalbard Archipelago.
What to expect
Upon arrival into Longyearbyen take the airport shuttle bus to your hotel, settle in and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Depending on your time of arrival we can also add on a half day activity such as snowshoeing to an ice cave or dog sledding. The next day you will meet your guide at 10am in your hotel reception and after the short briefing, get ready to head out on the snowmobiles! Drive through unspoiled nature, over glaciers, past snow covered mountains and frozen fjords. You will have an expedition lunch on the way, whilst experiencing the silence of the arctic. Before the evening you will arrive at Isfjord Radio, a remote boutique hotel that is 90km from Longyearbyen and on arrival you will be greeted by the staff with a delicious 3 course meal.
Fritjof Glacier
The next day your guide will choose the route you take based on the weather and snow conditions. If the weather is good then you will go southwards to Fritjof Glacier. If you are lucky you might see the King of the Arctic, the polar bear, hunting for seals on the ice. Expedition lunch will be served in the field. In the afternoon you will return to the radio station in time for dinner.
Barentsburg
After another delicious breakfast it is time for you to head into the beautiful landscape of Spitsbergen. The guide chooses the day’s route depending on the weather and snow conditions. If the weather is good, you can have a change to visit the Russian mining town Barentsburg, which is a home for some 300 persons. Explore the life of an isolated arctic town and visit some Russian buildings. Here you can really feel the history of Spitsbergen and finish your expedition in the late afternoon and check in to your hotel in Longyearbyen.

Isfjord Radio is a former satellite communication station between Norway and Svalbard which has been converted into a unique boutique hotel. Here you can experience the true wilderness of Svalbard in a place very few will have the opportunity to experience.

We received absolute first rate support and advice from Thalia from our first enquiry to our return home. There was no meet and greet part of our trip which was fine and as expected in the itinerary. The wildlife we saw was in line with our expectations - the Svalbard trip was not solely for wildlife spotting for us, it was more the adventure that we were there for!
