Explore the awe-inspiring wilderness of Patagonia; visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, kayak through Lake Argentino and visit the wonderful town of Bariloche. Travelling to Argentina would not be the same without a visit to Patagonia. Marvel at the stunning landscapes of Southern Patagonia including the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier before visiting Northern Patagonia’s extraordinary Lake District region including the quaint artisanal chocolate producing town of Bariloche. Wonderful as a safari in its own right, or as an extension to an Antarctica, Chile or Argentina wildlife safari.
Arrival to Ushuaia, the southernmost city of the world that lies on the shores of the Beagle Channel. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to El Calafate. Located at the foot of Argentina’s vast mainland, El Calafate is the gateway to the vast wilderness of Southern Patagonia.
Embark on a full day witnessing the truly magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier. Walk the many walkways in front of the glacier enjoying spectacular views, before stopping at Bajo Las Sombras Pier, the nearest point to the southern wall of the glacier. Watch and wait and if you’re very lucky you’ll be able to see a part of the glacier calving from the wall, crashing into the icy waters of the Lake Argentino below.
Transfer to Puerto Banderas to board a catamaran for your day on Lake Argentino. You will glide along the Iceberg Channel passing by large wind-sculpted icebergs with smooth and glowing surfaces. Upsala Glacier is the largest glacier in Southern Patagonia and is an incredible 50 km long and 10 km wide. You will then return via the Spegazzini channel in order to see the imposing Spegazzini Glacier, the tallest glacier in the park at towering above the lake at 110 meters in height.
Today you will catch an onward flight to Bariloche, Argentina's very own Swiss-style resort, stunningly set around the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Spend a full day exploring the surrounding, stunning countryside. We recommend the Nahuel Huapi National Park, which is Argentina's oldest national park and some would say it is the most beautiful, with many trails which can easily be hiked offering stunning lake and mountain views. In the same area is Cerro Campanario, the view from the top of which was once voted UNESCO's Best View in the World. Alternatively, you may wish to take a boat trip on Lake Huapi.
Just 3 kilometres from downtown Bariloche, Villa Huinid is beautifully set close to Lake Nahuel Huapi, surrounded by gardens. Stay in the luxurious hotel rooms, or in one of the cabins, perfect for families or honeymoon couples. Go for a swim in the pool or relax in the spa, or head out to enjoy hiking or fishing after exploring the city sights.
