Spot a wide variety of whales, penguins and gigantic icebergs; as well as spending some time exploring the surprisingly vibrant grasslands of the South Shetland Islands. This incredible journey departs Ushuaia to explore the outstanding Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands, which contrary to popular belief, is far from a world of white desolation. Vivid emerald, violets and blues colour the landscapes on this truly adventurous Antarctic Safari. Pass huge icebergs, encounter huge whales and witness massive rookeries of penguins as you explore this vast icy wilderness. Subject to weather and ice conditions you will have the opportunity to stand on the continent itself.
Day 1 - Ushuaia
Today you will arrive in the world’s most southerly city.
Day 2 - Beagle Channel
This afternoon embarkation will take place in the port of Ushuaia where you will be able to settle into your home for the next 12 days and meet your fellow passengers. The boat will begin by sailing through the Beagle Channel.
Days 3 - 4 - The Drake Passage
Your adventure begins with a 400 mile crossing of the passage that bears the name of the 16th century English explorer Sir Francis Drake. Take in daily lectures from your expedition team and keep an eye out for the first sightings of icebergs, whales and albatross following in our sturdy ship's wake.
Days 5 - 8 - Antarctic - South Shetland

Attempt two shore landings per day (weather conditions permitting) and encounter gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries, Weddell, crabeater and leopard seals, and orca, humpback and minke whales in the cold Antarctic waters. The peninsula also has a remarkable human history. During the voyage we will learn about some of the most important and dramatic expeditions to this remote corner of the world.
