Camp Nomade

Camp Nomade is an exciting mobile camp in Zakouma National Park. Under African Parks’ management since 2010, Zakouma has become a world-renowned case study for successful elephant conservation in a challenging environment. In tourism circles, Zakouma is still a relatively unknown and isolated savanna park, but with its abundant wildlife and unique Saharan nomadic cultures, leading private guides are convinced of its potential for exclusive, high-end tourism and are jointly developing this product with African Parks. Camp Nomade is a high-end mobile safari camp designed to capture the romance of the nomadic culture that is an integral part of Chadian/Sahelian culture. At the camp, the tents are modelled on the traditional camps of the Sehel region and are filled with vibrant, locally-woven carpets, nomadic bells, and burnished brassware. Inside the eight sleeping tents, there’s a black mosquito net ‘box’, allowing for 360-degree game viewing straight from your bed, and stretch canvas over the ceiling keeps things cool (ish!). Each has a private bathroom, shaded by local grass screens, with a bucket shower, plenty of hot water, and efficient, long-drop loos. Lighting throughout the camp comes from hurricane lanterns, and the food is outstanding – especially considering how far away from civilisation you are!

Tinga Camp

Tinga Camp is set on the banks of the Tinga River, surrounded by impressive tamarind trees. This is a classic rondavel style camp, consisting of a total of 20 chalets. 12 are standard and 8 are refurbished to superior standard. Each room has en-suite facilities, mosquito nets and ceiling fans. Tinga's comfortable main area has wonderful views over the surrounding bush and is the ideal spot to relax, do some birding or visit the underground hide within walking distance. The camp serves an eclectic mix of Chadian and Western cuisine, and also offers bush dinners. The camp is in the heart of an excellent game viewing area and to explore this beautiful and inspirational park, the camp offers game drives and night drives in open 4x4 vehicles and bush walks. A visit to the local community market is also a highlight of a visit to Zakouma. All rooms at Tinga have individual mosquito nets and ceiling fans. Tinga has a fully equipped restaurant and bar.

Warda Camp
