Short South Africa Safari

With only a week in South Africa you want to make the most of the wildlife viewing opportunities it has on offer. Fly into Johannesburg and connect straight out the the greater kruger area, heading for one of the conservancies. spend 3 nights each at two different lodges here in conservancies such as Sabis Sands and Timbavati. These reserves are renowned in their own right, allowing you to veer off the obvious route and deeper into the surrounding area. As fencing was removed years ago, this has enabled the abundant game to move completely freely between the national park and the reserves, leading to thrilling game viewing.

What to expect

Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Located north of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, on the western edge of the Kruger National Park, Timbavati Nature Reserve is teeming with wildlife and is home to all of the big five as well as over 40 species of mammals and 360 species of birds. It is renowned for its white lions, who were discovered in the mid 1970's to exhibit a natural phenomenon called leucism, where the fur is white but the eyes and skin are pigmented. If you're lucky enough, you will be treated to a rare glimpse of these incredible animals. Enjoy your days on game drives from your lodge and guided walks. We love this reserve because of the quality of guiding, fewer vehicles and larger herds than in neighbouring reserves.

Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives inside the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, home to the big five and more. The oldest and most established of Kruger’s private game reserves, the Sabi Sands sits adjacent to Kruger National Park on its western border and, with no boundary fences, the wildlife is free to roam between the reserves and the park. The Sabi Sands is renowned as one of the best places in Africa to see leopards. Named after the rivers that dissect the reserve into four quarters, many would say it is the experience of staying in some of South Africa’s most revered lodges, combined with some of the best game viewing to be had from the natural water sources, that embodies the Sabi Sands experience.
