An incredible 8-day safari that combines the beautiful Zambezi National Park with one of Africa’s last strongholds for the endangered African painted dog – the Painted Dog Private Conservancy. Travel through Zimbabwe exploring the untouched surroundings of the Zambezi National Park, renowned for zebra, elephants and buffalo as well as predators like lion and leopard, before heading to Hwange National Park where you are based with easy access to the Painted Dog Conservation Centre. Amongst Hwange’s diverse habitats you’ll search for the endangered painted dogs (also known as African wild dogs) and other game with the experienced guides of Vintage Safari Camp.
Zambezi National Park
You’ll have two full days to explore the area and find the incredible wildlife that calls the Zambezi National Park its home. Morning and afternoon game drives in the 4x4 vehicles will take you along the Zambezi River, providing an opportunity to see elephants, buffalo, giraffe, lions, antelope and more. There is also the option to enjoy a river safari, follow expert guides on walking safaris and even take a tour of 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' (the Smoke That Thunders) – the mighty Victoria Falls.
Hwange National Park
One of Africa’s last strongholds for the endangered painted dog, and offers the chance to see these rare animals in their natural habitat. Spend the next three days amidst the pristine wilderness seeking out the elusive dogs as well as elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah and rare antelope like the eland, sable and roan. You’ll also have access to the Painted Dog Conservation Centre, a rehabilitation centre with a museum where you can learn all about this fascinating species.
